Camp was usual enough - Writing week 6 term 4

 Camp was usual enough.

It had Archery, arrows flying through the air, a dining hall full of chatting kids, a challenging confidence course and a freezing cold pool.

My friends and I did what restless kids do, race around the playground, struggle up the rock climbing wall, shoot bullets at the distant target and whisper into the late hours of the night.

Doing nothing important.

I can't believe camp is next week.

I am thriled to have this opportunity, there are so many thing I'm looking forward too.

Like what activites am I going to do, will I seriously enjoy?

Excitement, doubtfulness, and relief are all feeling's bubbling inside me.

I'm itching to pack and prepare for our amusing adventure, a big warm sleeping bag, bright torchs and sticky insect repellant are all things I will need for camp.

I can imagine speeding around the BMX track, shooting arows at the distance target, and attemping to tackle the confidence course.

I'M SO EXCITED!!

Writing week 3 term 4 - The monster in the Pahurehure inlet.

It lurks in the mud, were the pukeko live.

He stores his food under the board - walk were flax and austroderia grow.

The monster in Pahurehure inlet is a creature that you could never imagine, he is a sneaky monster that never fails to suprise.

The Pahurehure inlet is the perfect enviroment for our monster, mud squelching under his claws and tall, thick tussock to hide in.

If you are lucky enough you might happen to see the monster hopping around in the muck, just don't make a sound, he does not enjoy having visitors.

Reading week 3 term 4

Reading week 3 term 4, we learnt about the Pahurehure inlet and wetlands as well as wetland birds.

Writing - At the end of the driveway by Tim Upperton and Abby/me

At the end of the driveway, the world is silent.

At the end of the driveway, the world is spinning.

Kids frolick past trees and buzzing bees.

Kids wander by, their faces bright with joy.

In the wet and warm.

Kids race to school.

Inside their clothes their itching skins

Inside their skins the kids are growing

This girl is smiling, this boy is dialing numbers on his phone

Not yet seeing, not yet knowing.

That's what gone is a new beginning,

That what begins is already growing

Fast then faster.

Adults, with their wide grins.

Bolting in all directions to adult places.

Any day now Papakura central school market is going live, so this is a poster to advertise. I hope this persuades you to buy our resuable bags to save the planet from plastic pollution.

How I feel when I'm watching the Haka

Feirce shouts ring through my ears. Hand movements are so perfect and synchronized.

Feet stomp like dozans of drums and symbals. Strong voices echo through out the room making my heart race faster and faster.  My hands shaking, slightly terrified as the Haka continues.

The boys beat their chests as if they were angry gorillas.
I'm on the edge of my seat when the Haka finishes, I can still hear powerful voices booming in my ears,  and the movements are still vivid in my head.
The Haka was something to remember.

If my family was dawn raided

  BAM! CRASH!

My heart skipped a beat as I leapt out of bed rushing to my parents room, as I went, I woke my sister, Holly out of her deep sleep. She has started screaming and crying in absolute fear, I felt the same way. My mum is up, trembling, she grabs both of us tightly and doesn't let go, dad races into the living room to try to hold the door shut no use... the door flew off the hinges straight into dad's face. A police officer kicks him as he lays on the ground lifeless clenching a gash in his face a nail had created.

Mum, Holly and I sit on the bed in silence until Holly suddenly bursts into tears, worrying about dad and what might happen next. A police officer rushes in followed by a ferocious dog drooling all over the already dirty carpet, the crazed dog barks loudly freaking out my sister. The policeman rummages through all the draws before screaming at us,

"WE ARE YOUR PASSPORTS!" "SHOW ME NOW" None of us answer so the police man yells at the top of his lungs, and the insane rottweiler snarls at us. Then dad races in still with blood rushing down his face, he pounces on the back of the policeman, in anger, but soon is in the back of the paddywagon. Mum still refuses to give answers about our passports so now she is in the back of the paddywagon.

Holly my sister wipes her tears and stands up and knee kicks the policeman right in the stomach, he unexpectedly starts CRYING? In pain. Holly’s jaw dropped as she scrambled back to where she was standing originally, even  the fact that she was so young, she was soon in the back of the paddywagon too, and of course as I am a relative and too young to stay home alone I am taken to!

After being in the cells overnight, we are told that we have to be flown straight to Samoa.
